Footprint Ghost

Lately, I have been very bad at doing art/craft projects with R Jr. Been super busy at work and when I get back, we usually take R Jr. to the park or end up running errands. Yesterday, I managed to squeeze in this simple craft activity.

I traced the outline of R Jr.'s foot onto a sheet of paper. Cut the outline to copy it to a white foam sheet that creates the ghost's body. Cut out two arms. Punched out pink construction paper for those rosy cheeks:). Ain't that pretty. This will look great if hung as a decoration on your front door.

Halloween Crafts using paper plates

Since I have seen so many posts by other bloggers prepping up for Halloween, I decided to jump on the wagon too. R Jr. and I decided to have fun with paper plates and come up with our favorite Halloween characters. This is the first time that R Jr. is so excited about Halloween(we were traveling last year during Halloween and he doesn't really remember his first one, of course).

The best thing about these is that they are so easy. R Jr. just needed help with the cutting, but the rest is all his work and I like how they turned out, especially Frankenstein.

Cotton ball Sheep

I came across this wonderful site and totally fell in love with the cotton ball sheep. It is so easy to make, so we had to try it since R Jr. loves to sing "Baa Baa Black Sheep". Well, we had a ball making this:)

R Jr. needed some practice with crumpling the paper into a ball. So, he first worked with an old newspaper till he got it right. Once he had a decent looking ball, I ran some tape around the ball to hold its shape.

Then I had R Jr. stick the cotton balls all over.

Once the body had dried, I inserted black straws(cut to equal length) for legs. I cut out an oval for the face and two small leaf shaped ears. I had R Jr. put the face together, finishing it off with a pair of googly eyes. I glued the face to the body and ta-da!!!

What a short 'long weekend' it was. Here's how we spent it: Saturday-Running errands. Sunday- Picnic at the beach with friends. Monday-Invited friends over for dinner.

I had extended my long weekend through Tuesday as R Jr. is home this whole week. He is super excited about Halloween this time. So, I took him to Dollar Tree in the morning and picked up some decorations. Since things at Dollar Tree never go on sale, I prefer to buy them early on when they are stocked up. We got home for lunch and then R Jr. sat to paint egg cartons.

I was impressed with his work. We then let the cartons dry while we took an afternoon siesta. Later, we had R Jr.'s friend and her mommy for tea. After they had left, R Jr. reminded me about the cartons.

So we sat down and started decorating the cartons.

We ended up with a caterpillar, a butterfly and a bumblebee.

R Jr. couldn't wait for his daddy to be home so that he could show off his new creations. Such a fun and inexpensive craft and a great way to put those egg cartons to use.

Finally...Fixed the pictures!!

Yes, I have been so bad at updating my blog lately...I know. Been super busy with other things, so decided that I would at least fix the issue with my pictures today. Like I mentioned before, Blogger said that I have exceeded my photo storage limit on Picasa. So today, I started off with a new project...saving all my pictures onto CDs, so that I would always have a backup of my photos in case my computer crashes (happened to me sometime early this year, and I nearly had a heart attack thinking I had lost all my wonderful memories. R Sr. spent a couple of days trying to figure out a way to retrieve the pictures from the hard disk and he finally managed to)...Anyway, I was able to free up some space on Picasa because of this and so, was able to upload the pictures onto Blogger. Yippee!!!

M.I.A

I have been M.I.A from my blog almost the entire week. It has been a rough week. The weather isn't helping either...there's a heat wave one day and then freezing the next day. R Jr. and I have been under the weather this week. R Sr. just got back from his trip last night (Hallelujah!!). So good to see him after two weeks. Managing R Jr. single-handedly can be trying at times:)

I hope to get back to my routine beginning today. There are some things on my "To do" list that I hope in accomplish in the next 10 days (don't know how reasonable that is):

1. First and foremost, fixing those picture issues on my blog. I thank everyone who left comments/suggestions and will surely try them out. I upload them via Picasa, and now it says I have exceeded the storage limit.

2. Give my blog a face lift. I want to put in a Blog Button and add some more pages maybe.

3. Teach R Jr. to hold the pen/pencil right. R Jr. doesn't have the tripod grip. He holds the pencil a weird way right now, with the pencil top/eraser pointing away from him. I started teaching him the tripod grip yesterday and hope to spend some time everyday with this.

4. Get back to an exercise routine. I am not 20 anymore:( I have gained 5 lbs in the past 4 months. 5 lbs is not too hard to lose I should think. But I have been saying this forever. I better act now before 5 becomes 10.

5. Start planning R Jr.'s birthday party that's coming up in December. R Jr. and I have settled on the theme.

6. Wait....before R Jr.'s birthday, Halloween is just around the corner. We will be having a Halloween party at the office, and I need to decide on a costume for R Jr. and myself.

Now I am wondering, where did the first 8 months of 2010 go?!! We totally skipped a season here in NorCal. Now, I can't wait for the next summer already.
